Right, so I shared a rambling nonsensical post about how I am thinking about goals for 2025. If you missed that download on my crazy – you can find it here. The key takeaway is that I am breaking down chunks of 2025 into Pinterest boards to keep me inspired and excited about the year ahead. I thought as part of living a little more intentionally, I would share how the months tracked against the Pinterest boards. Jan&Feb25 was all about focusing on work, staying home and embracing the cosy.

These two months have felt super wholesome but sometimes really hard. I am not good at slowing down and doing less. But I kept coming back to the board to remind me what the months were about. I found it really comforting to have a plan and a vibe for the slower time. Jan&Feb25 was not a period of “achieving goals” but I feel I got 10/10 on achieving the vibes.

Let’s see how Jan&Feb25 tracked against the board

– Arts and crafts!
I wanted to spend time in January and February staying home but doing more at home than just watching TV and reading books. I love painting candles so pinned a bunch of those to try. The plan was to paint these super sweet ginko leaf butterflies but I didn’t order them in time and they’re still in transit. AND I worked pretty much every weekend of January and February so finding time for arts and crafts took a back seat. That’s okay! The boards are for dreaming so I am definitely never going to manage everything. BUT I did sign up for a weekly pottery course which I am really loving. In between all the chaos I religiously went to my pottery class and that ticks the arts and crafts box!

– Cooking at home
That’s something we always do but I had a few dishes that felt like perfect meals to enjoy in Jan&Feb25. Beef short rib felt like a crucial winter dish. I completely forgot about beef short rib until I revisited the board. We tried a brilliant new recipe and it made for a perfectly cosy Sunday evening. No photo – but it happened. Trust me. We made Jerusalem artichoke soup which is a real favourite and a vegetable only available in the winter months. I also pinned filled pasta and was bloody thrilled when Jono whipped out raviolos al uovo on Valentine’s Day. Poke bowls definitely don’t feel like a winter dish BUT what this represents is wanting to spend a whack of money on takeaway sushi and instead making an easy affordable version for at home.

– Work
Ya, LOL, did a ridiculous amount of work. Really excelled here… (pun intended).

– Embrace the cosy life
I entered into my pyjama era in January, which is fully in line with the cosy life. I wore pleeeenty of cashmere jumpers. The baby cat was very keen on the cosy life and featured heavily. Jono got into making hot chocolate with giant swirls of whipped cream. Cosy and wholesome, gang.

– The cookies
I decided that each time period gets it’s own cookie. I love cookies so I needed very little thinking to embrace this idea. The cookies for Jan&Feb25 are pecan pie cookies. They were surprisingly accurate to pecan pies. Like really really surprising. I think it’s the brown sugar that makes all the difference. I used the recipe that was linked on the Pinterest pin – and it worked well but I think you need about double the pecans and half the baking powder.

– Resting. A lot of resting.
Featuring my very beautiful bed. I focused on good sleep, lie ins on the weekend, naps (oh my goodness I love naps) and climbing into bed with treats.

– Meals with loved ones
Rox stay early January for just one night and it was so great! We snuck in a dinner at PiqueNique which was fantastic as always. We also hosted a Christmas lunch with friends where I got to set a beautiful table and make double baked cheese souffles.

The round up on Jan&Feb25

All in all, I feel like Jan&Feb25 delivered on the vibes. We stayed cosy, we were very wholesome and we focused on work and rebuilding our post holiday savings. I would have liked more time hosting friends but honestly I didn’t have the energy for it (which is not like me!!). And I would like to find a little more arts and crafts time in the next time chunk. And that’s the beauty of the boards – pins from Jan&Feb25 can be shuffled over into the next time chunks! Closing the chapter on a wonderful and intentional January and February (in April… bloody hell Tahlia Claire).
