I still have something say.

People don’t read blogs anymore? I don’t care.
Long form is dead. Piss off.

Can’t you just make this a cute little video? Are you mad??

Blogs are dead. Long live the blogs.

If you’ve been around for a long time you’ll know I had a blog about one hundred years ago. And in all honesty it just stopped sparking joy. I had less and less free time and when I did I was struggling to find the will to edit images or write long detailed posts. Add to this that people have largely stopped reading blogs so when I did find the time it felt a little like shouting into the void. And honestly, who has the energy?

So with our move to London, I just stopped. I stopped feeling guilty about not finding the time. I stopped feeling guilty for the ten hours of work in exchange for a three course lunch. I stopped feeling guilt about the blog getting in the way of our weekends and downtime.

But even though I stopped sharing, I didn’t stop HAVING things to share. Since our move to London we have travelled more and more. We go on more adventures. And I have even more recommendations brimming out of me.

The way I filled the blogging gap was chaotic emails to my loved ones. I have sent my Paros email to at least eight people. I have forwarded my Cape Town restaurant list countless times to friends, colleagues and clients. I have whatsapp’ed and Instagram DM’ed long lists of where and what to eat from many of our recent adventures. But I want to pull it all together in one place so I can stop scrambling through my emails and social media posts to try and find the gems we have collected on the way.

I still have things to say and I’m going to be saying them. Whether anyone is reading it is up for debate but quite frankly this is entirely for me once again.

We spend all our leave and almost all our money on travel. We spend countless hours researching and poor Jono racks up many many steps (sometimes in the rain and to the detriment of his passport) on the hunt for the best bahn mi, gelato, pizza or coffee.

And I want to tell you about it. I want you to have your very best holiday and I want to have given you a tiny nugget that helps.

So strap in chickens, because I’m saying the things.

What you’re going to find here:

– Short snappy, maybe slightly bossy, lists exactly like you’re one of my friends receiving my recommendation email for your upcoming trip
– Very honest advice (possibly too honest advice)
– Mostly talking about the good stuff with a quick flag on things we tried but didn’t love
– spelling and grammar mistakes

What you’re not going to find here:

– Detailed stand alone restaurant / attraction / hotel reviews. I did that for a long time with my last blog and that’s not what I want anymore
– Edited photos. I absolutely hate editing photos. My goal is to largely get away with a straight download off google photos. Worse case scenario I could swing a rotate or a crop but that’s hopefully the end of it.
